    Dec 22, 2016
Winter 16 2Today we visited the Golan Heights, the northern part of Israel, where we were able to see the ancient city of Gamla. Alyssa Gildenhorn (UNC Charlotte) remarked, “I enjoyed visiting Gamla, where we saw ruins of a Jewish settlement that was besieged by the Romans. You don't see ancient things like that in America, and as our guide told us the story of the Jewish community there, it really came alive for me.”

  • Sixth Annual President's Interfaith & Community Service Campus Challenge 2016 Reflection
    Nov 16, 2016
Miriam RoochvargAs president of our Interbelief Initiative at NCSU, I attended the Sixth Annual President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge at Gallaudet University. While there, I presented, along with students from three other colleges, on best practices for connecting with community partners on and off campus for interfaith programs. Planning interfaith work can be extremely draining, but hearing the insight, experiences and passion shared by the students, faculty and staff who do this at their colleges and their nonprofits was much needed. To be around others like me, who are passionate in doing what I’m doing, working today for a better tomorrow for all, is inspiring and reinforcing me to continue what I do.

Over 70 students from across the state attended on September 16th and about 20 students were at the next morning's bagel brunch. Our student-run event was a huge success! As a matter of fact, it was the biggest one in recent memory. Each table at dinner was filled with a mix of students from different campuses.

    Jul 20, 2016

Tobee KaplanI am very sad to share the news that Tobee Kaplan (zichrona livracha - may her memory be a blessing) passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016.

Tobee was an amazing woman, with great vision and boundless compassion. She exuded genuine warmth and humility, and with a twinkle in her eye, she was always eager to listen and delighted to learn about Hillel's efforts and celebrate our successes.

We will miss her friendship, her leadership and her wonderful smile.
