The SLC will help to implement Hillel’s Jewish vision at UNC Chapel Hill, guiding students as they explore their Jewish identities and contributing to a warm and welcoming Jewish community on campus.

    DTH seder photoUNC Hillel sponsored its first Queer Seder, an event that coupled religious identity with sexual identity in hopes of furthering an inclusive environment for queer members.

    “There’s a difference between saying, ‘Yes, we’re accepting,’ and actually creating a space for marginalized members,” said Seder leader Averyl Edwards, a member of UNC Hillel.

    I am very sad to share the news that Leonard Kaplan (zichrono livracha - may his memory be a blessing) passed away Monday morning. I suspect most of you never had the chance to meet Leonard, but it is safe to say that NC Hillel would not be a shadow of what it is today without the bold leadership and remarkable support of Leonard and his beloved wife, Tobee.
