Birthright Blog: Waterfalls, History Lessons, and Forever Friends

Dec 27, 2019

Birthright winter19

On Tuesday, Bus 1704 went hiking in the Banias, a beautiful national park in the north filled with waterfalls. We also learned about Israeli politics while exploring an abandoned bunker and enjoyed our time on a kibbutz. On Wednesday, we walked through the Old City loving the sites and leaving notes at the Western Wall. The next day, we visited monuments in the town of Netanya and talked about the Iron Dome. We also had a chance to learn about the geopolitical history of the region. This morning was one of the participant's birthdays, so we celebrated with baloons and sufganiyot (jelly donuts), which are all over Israel during Hanukkah.

Overall, we've enjoyed some amazing Israeli food and have had special moments of connection with each other. We're excited to remain friends after the trip!
