UNC Hillel's Student Board are the leaders of the Jewish community on campus. Board members work with their committees to plan a wide variety of programs that serve highly diverse student needs and interests. If you are interested in joining a committee please email the committee chair.

Challah for Hunger: Madeline Reich
Bakes and sells challah to raise money and awareness for social justice. At UNC, we donate 100% of our proceeds to our causes.
First Year Students of Hillel (FYSH): Noaam Zahavi
Creates programs specifically for first-year students at Carolina to network and bond. Recent programs have included dinners at local restaurants, movie nights and Shabbat dinner.
Holocaust Education Committee: CJ Farris
Educates students at Carolina about the Holocaust. The annual Reading of the Names program takes place in conjunction with Yom Hashoah. Students, faculty and staff are invited to come together over the course of 24 hours to participate in a continuous reading of names of victims of the Holocaust so that they will never be forgotten.
Interfaith Committee: Meredith Cohen
Partners with other religious groups at UNC Chapel Hill to create programs that generate understanding between members of different communities. Notable annual events include Interfaith Shabbat and Interfaith Arts Festival.
Israel Committee: Dan Barondes
Plans events to teach the community about Israel and creates a space for open discussion of Israeli culturally and politically. Each Spring the Israel Committee plans Israelfest, an opportunity for the entire campus community to learn about and celebrate.
Religious Education Committee: Pam Partridge
Creates meaningful programming around Jewish holidays for students to learn about traditions and experience them for themselves.
Shabbat: Oliver Mitchell-Boyask
Builds a lively atmosphere for students to celebrate and enjoy Shabbat together each week. See Shabbat for more information about our programs or to RSVP for weekly Shabbat services and meals.
Social Committee: Sami Wertheim
Runs fun and exciting programs that allow students to socialize, make new friends, and enjoy themselves in UNC's Jewish community.
Tzedek (Social Justice) Committee: Danielle Adler
Gives students the opportunity to volunteer at various projects in and around Chapel Hill on a monthly basis. Previous projects have included volunteering at UNC Hospital, working with Rebuilding Together, and partnering with local synagogues to work with Sunday School students.
