Shabbat RSVP

Celebrate Shabbat with UNC Hillel!

On Friday nights when the University is in session, Tar Heel community members including students, faculty and guests from around the state gather for a meaningful and delicious Shabbat experience. Choose from three different student-led services: Conservative, Reform, or alternative.

Please RSVP so that we know you're coming and have enough food for everyone.

Shabbat Babayit

Occasionally, Hillel holds Shabbat BaBayit (Shabbat in the Home) to allow students to host their own Shabbat dinner in their residence halls or apartments.  During Shabbat BaBayit there will not be services or dinner at Hillel. We also offers students the chance to host their own Shabbat dinner at home. We will provide you with  a kit containing candles,* candlesticks, paper plates, silverware, wine* or grape juice, prayerbooks and kippot. We can also help pay for the food you serve**.

Kits must be picked up no later than 5:00 p.m. that Friday at NC Hillel.  Please RSVP by the Wednesday before the Shabbat you are hosting.

* Check with your RA or landlord to ensure that items comply with all rules and regulations of your living situation.

** Contact Rabbi Melissa Simon with questions or for more information about reimbursement.‚Äč
